My first blankets were knitted over 20 years ago for my own children and those of friends and family. They lasted well beyond childhood and became treasured possessions, recalling happy memories and moments of comfort.
The timeless appeal of the images that appear in each design has been inspired by a love of nature and the places where I spent my childhood. The natural dyes used by the craftspeople of South Africa and the endless mountains, sea and forests of the Pacific coast of Canada have all influenced my work.
The children for whom these blankets were knitted subsequently became parents themselves. Thus my blankets would travel through generations from cot to cottage and back again, bringing comfort and memories to everyone they touched.
And despite the constant washing that goes with children's things, these treasures seem to last an eternity.
